I’ve often seen unique pieces such as this one referred to as “birthing chairs”. Considering I found it in a farming region in Switzerland, I would be more inclined to call it as it most likely was intended, a farmers milking stool.
It has so much to offer in a new home, as a side table, a plant stand, an interesting perch for towels in a bath, or as a sculptural conversation piece in any room.
Call it whatever you want, but this perfectly rough little piece of history is ready for the job.
